Gerry Dulac: OK,let's get our chat started. Fire away....

MIKE: When is the deadline a decision must be made in regards to James Harrison?

Gerry Dulac: I'm not sure if Harrison is due a roster bonus, though I suspect he probably is. Either way, I think the decision has probably already been made, at least in terms of which way the team is leaning. There's no question Harrison will have to take a significant pay cut to remain with the team. But, when asked after the final game if he is willing to do that, Harrison pointed up that he has already restructured his contract twice. That is going to be one of their tough decisions to make.

JamesinNYC: Who is at the senior bowl for the Steelers? Hear any names they are looking at?

Gerry Dulac: All the coaching staff and scouts are at the senior bowl. And, no, too early to hear any names of players who might interest them.

JamesinNYC: Are they doing the line/special teams coach evaluation while they are there? It is as much for out of work coaches as players right?

Gerry Dulac: That is correct. Lots of interviews for position coaches are always done at the Senior Bowl. I have not heard of any OL candidates, but I still believe they should hire someone who is a teacher, not just a guy who comes in with a bunch of different schemes. The Steelers have a lot of young guys who need to develop proper technique to play in the NFL.

JamesinNYC: If Ravens win Super Bowl, Steelers would be last team to beat them, same as their other SB I believe. Just a bit of trivia.

Gerry Dulac: Let me look that one up....

Gerry Dulac: That's right, the Steelers beat them, 9-6, in Baltimore on Oct 29, which was their last defeat and dropped tem to 5-4. They won 7 in a row to close the regular season, then won four games in the postseason.

JamesinNYC: Sorry you get stuck in the cold, do you get to travel to any of the games? Senior, Pro, or Super Bow this year?

Gerry Dulac: No, not anymore, not usually. I've been to the Senior Bowl and many Super Bowls, but no Pro Bowls. And I'm fine not going, though would like to spend a week in Hawaii.

MIKE: Could the Steelers lose McLendon or Redman without draft-choice compensation?

Gerry Dulac: They could but they won't.

JamesinNYC: Do you think they cut more vets then everyone expects for salary cap relief?

Gerry Dulac: I do now, especially after hearing Kevin Colbert last week. Anyone who I thought might be on the fence now will probably be gone. I already expect Max Starks, Willie Colon, Byron Leftwich, Casey Hampton, Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall to be gone. That's a significant chunk right there. Then a decision has to be made on James Harrison.

Gerry Dulac: Well, thats all the time we have today. We'll get together again next week.
