SAN DIEGO - The Pirates swept the Padres in a DH to make up for Tuesday's rainout.
Willie Stargell's 2 homers powered the Bucs to a 12-5 Game 1 win.
Game 2 was 0-0 until the Pirates scored on a bases loaded walk to Gene Alley in the 18th. Bob Johnson retired the side in the bottom of the 18th for the Bucs' 1-0 win.
Roberto Clemente was 2-5 with an RBI in Game 1. He came on in the 12th inning in Game 2 as a pinch hitter and finished the game 0-4. He is now 66 hits away from 3,000.
Stargell was 3-5 with 2 HR's and 5 RBI's in Game 1. He was 3-6 with 2 walks and no RBI's in Game 2.
Bob Johnson won Game 1 (1-3) and got his 1st save of the season in Game 2. Bob Miller (4-1) won Game 2 in relief.
Thursday's game has Bob Moose (3-2) facing Steve Arlin (4-5).
