SAN DIEGO - The Pirates' Tuesday night game against the San Diego Padres has been rained out. It will be made up as part of a Wednesday double header.
Nellie Briles faces Fred Norman in Game 1. Game 2 has Dock Ellis vs Clay Kirby.
The Pirates lose a half game to the Mets, who edged the Reds 3-2 at Shea Stadium. Pittsburgh is in 2nd place, 4 games behind New York.
Roberto Clemente is 68 hits away from 3,000 and is batting .321.
