Injured Penguins center Evgeni Malkin skated this morning but will not play today against Boston, coach Dan Bylsma said. Malkin has what is believed to be a shoulder injury.
Tomas Vokoun will start in goal. Coaches often come right back with a goaltender who is coming off of a shutout, as Marc-Andre Fleury is in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Rangers, but with back-to-back games and tihs being three games four days, it's understandable that the team chose to go with Vokoun.
Also, winger Matt Cooke is a "game-time" decision, Bylsma said. Cooke left Saturday's game after blocking a shot. He returned, but it seemed as if his ice time tapered off. If he can't play, the Penguins will need to dress seven defensemen. Bylsma, though, seemed to think Cooke will be ruled OK to play.
