Center Evgeni Malkin did not skate today, and there is no update in terms of his status for Sunday's home game against Boston, Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said.
It's hard to know how to read that. On Friday, Bylsma ruled Malkin out for today's game against the New York Rangers.
Malkin has what is believed to be a right shoulder injury he got last Saturday in Toronto. Bylsma said Malkin was expected to miss about one to two weeks. He's in that window now.
By declining to define Malkin's status for Sunday, Bylsma left open the possibility he will return -- or that he is on a longer recovery course.
"I don't have a sense for that," Bylsma said when asked to clarify Malkin's status and whether Malkin might need closer to the two weeks than the one week. "We ruled him out for today. We don't have that for tomorrow yet and don't have an exact timeline where he's at."
