Goaltender Brad Thiessen (right) made 26 saves and led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-0 shutout of the St. John's IceCaps at home tonight.

It was Thiessen's third shutout of the season and the Penguins' fifth consecutive win.

All of the Penguins' scoring came in the first period from defensemen Alex Grant, Philip Samuelsson and center Riley Holzapfel. Holzapfel also recorded an assist while center Trevor Smith recorded two assists.

The Penguins' next game is Friday on the road against the Rochester Americans, 7:05 p.m.


Wheeling Nailers defenseman Andrew Hotham scored two goals for the ECHL in a 7-6 win against Colorado in the ECHL All-Star Game in Loveland, Colo.

Hotham's goals came in the first and second periods.
