It's after 8 a.m., and no word yet on the player vote on ratification of the new collective bargaining agreement. The 36-hour electronic voting ended at 8.
The NHLPA, via Twitter, said, "Per agreement with the NHL, we will announce results of player vote later today. Discussions to finalize the MOU continue this morning." It's widely expected that the players will overwhelmingly vote to ratify the new deal with the league.
The next, and final step, to ending the lockout is for both sides to sign a memorandum of understanding. We would expect that to happen today, assuming the lawyers for both sides have finishing going over the fine print. Once that happens, the schedule will be released and the league will be back in business.
