Goaltender Brad Thiessen made 30 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-0 shutout at home against the Worecester Sharks. The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Penguins.
A first period goal by right winger Benn Ferriero (right) proved to be the game-winning score. Centers Riley Holzapfel and Warren Peters scored the Penguins' other goals in the second period.
The Penguins' next game is tomorrow on the road against the Connecticut Whale, 3 p.m.
Scott Darlingmade 27 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-0 shutout of the Trenton Titans at home.
All of Wheeling's goals were scored in the first period. Forward Paul Crowder accounted for most of the Nailers' offense with a hat trick. Forward Scott Zurevinski added a goal and two assists. Defensemen Peter Merth and Andrew Hotham each recorded two assists.
The Nailers next game is tomorrow on the road against the Reading Royals, 4:05 p.m.
