Penguins defensive prospect Olli Maatta (right) had a goal and two assists for Finland in an 11-4 rout of Slovakia in a relegation round game at the World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia today. The win earned Finland seventh place in the tournament.
Appearing in five games at the tournament, Maatta, who served as an alternate captain, finished with a goal and two assists as well as two penalty minutes.
In another relegation round contest, Penguins forward prospect Teddy Blueger had no points, four shots and was minus-3 for Latvia which lost to Germany, 5-2. Germany finished in ninth place with the victory.
Blueger appeared in six games during the tournament and recorded one goal, one assist and eight penalty minutes.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the bronze medal game between Canada and Russia. It starts at 3 a.m. EST. Canada's roster includes Penguins defensive prospect Scott Harrington.
The gold medal contest between the United States and Sweden begins at 8 p.m., EST. The United States's team includes Pittsburgh-area forwards Riley Barber, J.T. Miller, Vince Trocheck and goaltender John Gibson.
