The Kontinental Hockey League is taking the day off, and Evgeni Malkin probably has earned the right to a little rest.
He closes out 2012 as the second-leading scorer in the KHL, with 19 goals and 40 assists in 35 games.
Malkin trails only Metallurg Magnitogorsk teammate Sergei Mozyakin, who has 28 goals and 35 assists in 37 games, in the scoring race and is 11 points ahead of former Nashville forward Alexander Radulov, who ranks third.
