Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland, who signed with the Rosenborg club in Norway in mid-October, is back in North America.
And he just might be staying.
Engelland joined some teammates for a player-organized workout at Southpointe this morning, and said he plans to remain here at least until Christmas.
If the NHL lockout is not over by then, Engelland said,he might go back across the Atlantic, or possibly to his off-season residence in Las Vegas.
Engelland's appearance at Southpointe was a surprise, but he said he didn't come back because of the optimism -- now gone -- generated by the collective bargaining negotiations in New York earlier this week.
"My trip was booked long before the meetings started," he said.
