Penguins captain Sidney Crosby practiced in Pittsburgh Monday and Tuesday, then made a last-minute decision to fly to Arizona to join an ongoing weeklong training camp with other locked-out NHL players. He is there now.

As of a week ago, Crosby was not going to attend the camp, which is in Scottsdale. We can't speak to his motives, but it sure seems as if that could help prepare him for signing with a European club if there is not positive news from the mediated negotiating sessions that begin this afternoon.

Crosby participates in a similar camp in Vail, Colo., late in the offseason, and he joined one in Dallas earlier during the lockout.
