Malkin has big day

Evgeni Malkin, who was pointless in his previous two Kontinental Hockey League games, ended his slump today.

Emphatically.

Malkin had two goals -- one of them shorthanded -- and an assist in Metallurg Magnitogorsk's 5-3 victory against Barys Astana.

He finished with eight shots on goal and went 20-8 on faceoffs while logging 23 minutes, eight seconds of ice time.
