The Penguins started with six forwards at practice today at Southpointe: Pascal Dupuis, Chris Kunitz, Matt Cooke, Craig Adams, Tyler Kennedy and Sidney Crosby.

That got reduced to five after about 20 minutes when Matt Cooke left because of a cut on his face. We will outline that in another post shortly.

The Penguins pretty obviously had been counting on a three-on-three scrimmage, although it would have been hindered by the fact they had just one rent-a-goalie and former Penguins goalie Brent Johnson was not there.

So istead, they went two-on-two, single-zone, with the odd man out  setting up at the center point and feeding the others the puck. Based on who was wearing black or white NHLPA jerseys, there was supposed to be a line of Crosby centering Kunitz and Dupuis. But that has to be broken up. How to decide? Rock-paper-scissors, of course, and Dupuis ended up taking off his sweater to join a white team.
