BRADENTON, Fla. -- Here is the box score for today's game.
A.J. Burnett did not use his curveball today, instead throwing only fastballs and changeups. Three errors in the first two innings led to three unearned runs against him.
"We got to work on our composure during spring training, too," Burnett said. "Things happen. Balls don't always bounce your way. You don't always make plays, you don't always make pitches. You work on that kind of stuff too in spring."
Burnett said he stopped throwing bullpen sessions prior to spring training about four years ago, and has enjoyed durability during the past couple years.
***Jose Tabata went 2 for 2 with two doubles.
***Gerrit Cole allowed a run and a hit in two innings, striking out one and walking one. He did allow a batter to steal second and third during the same at-bat.
***Pedro Alvarez went 1 for 2 with an opposite-field double after a long at-bat.
***Wandy Rodriguez will pitch once more before leaving for the World Baseball Classic. He allowed a run in two innings today.
