Ray Lewis once said, "If you ain't [ticked] off for greatness, then you're OK with being mediocre." Gaby Sanchez echoed that sentiment during our conversation at mini-camp. In today's Post-Gazette, Sanchez talks about his desire to remain uncomfortable.
Sanchez also mentioned the need for a short-term memory, like that of a defensive back, after a poor season.
"If you had a good season, you remember it," Sanchez said. "If you didn't have a good season, you forget it very quickly. I don't really go back on what happened to me last year."
Sanchez strongly believed that the team remained the same, both in its approach at the plate and its demeanor off the field, when the wheels came off in August and September. Maybe so; we will see, then, in spring training whether or not the team makes adjustments aimed specifically at the second half.
Clint Hurdle closed the final on-field workout of mini-camp by thanking the players for attending, then yelling after them as they exited the field, "You're all coming back. No one's made the team yet."
