BRADENTON, Fla. -- My apologies for the delay in posting; I spent the morning on the field, then spent the afternoon in interviews until now.
The Pirates earlier today acquired right-hander Jeanmar Gomez from the Indians in exchange for outfielder Quincy Latimore. Gomez, 24, appeared in 20 games, 17 starts, for the Indians in 2012. He struck out 47 batters and walked 34 in 902/3 innings of work. The Indians designated him for assignment last week to make room for Russ Canzler.
The transaction is now official, per MLB's transactions page. ESPN's Keith Law first reported the trade. MLB.com lists Gomez as on the Pirates' 40-man roster.
Latimore, a 23-year-old taken in the fourth round of the 2007 draft, hit .252/.321/.433 in a full season with Class AA Altoona in 2012. He hit 15 home runs in 462 plate appearances.

While I transcribe notes from Charlie Morton, here are some photos and videos from the morning:
Clint Hurdle signs autographs for fans before batting practice.
And Gaby Sanchez takes batting practice. Sorry about the fence, the iPhone wouldn't fit through on that side.

And finally, here are the Hall of Fame voting results. No one received the necessary 75 percent of the votes to gain entry. Craig Biggio was closest with 68.2 percent, followed by Jack Morris at 67.7. Barry Bonds received 36.2 percent of votes, Roger Clemens 37.6, Mark McGwire 16.9, Sammy Sosa 12.5 and Rafael Palmeiro 8.8.
