Let me get started with a rebuttal to Doc, who ripped my movie pick from Monday.

Dear Doc,

Boo.

Sincerely,
Reeno

Perhaps I am a bit biased because I am a big Colbert Report fan (and, really, a big Colbert fan. Perhaps the greatest Daily Show correspondent of all time). But it's the Holiday Season! Can't we just appreciate one another's taste in art -- er, entertainment? And, a quick disclaimer, if you hate Brink picking Elf at No. 9, you might groan at the rest of my list...

I digress. Monday was a busy day around the league as a few noteworthy deals became official. Here are some of the highlights.

R.A. Dickey is traded to the Toronto Blue Jays and signs a contract extension. The Jays have been the most active team in the league this offseason and have had to be creative with their payroll

After hitting .223 last season, Stephen Drew will earn $9.5 million from the Boston Red Sox next season.

The Tigers introduce Anibal Sanchez and will likely look to trade Rick Porcello.

The AL West's newest designated hitter: Carlos Pena, who signed with the Houston Astros (weird to write that).

The Oakland Athletics signed 30-year-old Japanese shortstop Hiroyuki Nakajima for two years, $6.5 million with a $5.5 team option for 2015.

The San Francisco Giants signed RHP Santiago Casilla, a reliever, to a three-year deal worth roughly $15 million, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Holiday movies, No. 8

Bill: "A Charlie Brown Christmas" I used to watch this with my family every Christmas. Watching them try to pick out a tree gets me every time.

Michael: "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation"
Clark: Our holidays were always such a mess.
Clark Sr.: Oh, yeah.
Clark: How'd you get through it?
Clark Sr.: I had a lot of help from Jack Daniels.
