The Pirates announced they've signed seven players to minor league contracts Friday. Three of them are new to the organization, four are familiar faces. We took a look at some earlier this week, but here is a brief bio on all of the new faces.
RHP Ryan Reid -- Reid, 27, was selected in the seventh round of the 2006 amateur draft by the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays. He has a 4.01 career ERA in five seasons and has not appeared in the major leagues. He will most likely be used as a reliever. He attended James Madison University.
OF Darren Ford -- Ford, 27, has appeared in 33 major league games, all with the San Francisco Giants. The Milwaukee Brewers drafted him out of a New Jersey high school in the 18th round of the 2004 amateur draft. He is a career .286 hitter in the major leagues -- .268 in eight seasons int he minor leagues.
INF Jared Goedert -- Goedert, 27, was twice drafted by the Cleveland Indians. The first, in the 36th round of the 2003 draft. The second, in the ninth round of the 2006 draft. He is yet to make a major league appearance. He is a career .277 hitter in seven seasons in the minor leagues. He attended Kansas State University.
