The Pirates sent recent waiver claim Ali Solis outright to Class AAA Indianapolis Friday, according to MLB.com's transactions page.
The Pirates claimed Solis, a 25-year-old catcher, from the Padres organization Oct. 25. After activating Charlie Morton from the 60-day disabled list this week, the Pirates now have 34 men on their 40-man roster. They could use a couple of the remaining spots to add free agents and protect their prospects from the Rule 5 draft.
