The Pirates sent infielder Jeff Clement, catcher Eric Fryer and right-handed reliever Daniel McCutchen outright to Class AAA Indianapolis Monday.
Fryer, who along with Clement was designated for assignment last week to make room for waiver claims Ali Solis and Chad Beck, elected free agency. Clement has the option to elect free agency because he has previously been sent outright off a 40-man roster. Either way, he and McCutchen will be declared minor league free agents Friday.
