According to the MLB Player's Association, 137 players became free agents after the conclusion of the World Series. Courtesy of ESPNNewYork.com, here is the full list.
You will notice Hisanori Takahashi is not on this list, but I have been told he is considered a free agent despite his service time.
Rod Barajas can become a free agent if the Pirates decline his $3.5 million option, which has no buyout. The team must make a decision by Wednesday. They must also exercise Pedro Alvarez's $700,000 option by that time.
Saturday, players can sign with teams other than their previous club. The Pirates have five days to negotiate exclusively with Jason Grilli, the only free agent they may want back. Takahashi, Chad Qualls and Kevin Correia are almost certainly gone.
