-Former Steelers center Bill Walsh passed away. A two-time Pro Bowler in the 1950s, he was 84.
-The Steelers will give Mike Adams a go at left tackle.
-The Eagles signed former Pitt running back LeSean McCoy to a five-year contract worth $45 million.
-Suspended Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma is suing NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
-The Buccaneers signed kicker Connor Barth to a four-year contract worth $13.2 million.
Penguins/NHL
-Brooks Orpik joins the You Can Play initiative.
-An assist by Evgeni Malkin helped Russia defeat Norway, 5-2 in the quarterfinal round of the IIHF World Championships.
-Jonathan Quick made 18 saves for the Kings in a 2-1 win against the Coyotes in Game 3. Los Angeles has a 3-0 series lead.-The Kings have won eight consecutive postseason games, three short of the record of 11 set by the Blackhawks and Penguins in 1992 and the Canadiens in 1993.
-By way of the Twitter account of Predators defenseman and former Penguin Hal Gill:
-The Oilers will not renew the contract of head coach Tom Renney. In two seasons with Edmonton, Renney went 57-85-22 and did not reach the postseason.
