Steelers/NFL

-Ben Roethlisberger (above) threw for 134 yards and three touchdowns for the Steelers in a 24-10 season-ending win against the rival Browns.

-Lawrence Timmons became the first inside linebacker to lead the team in sacks since the Steelers began tracking the statistic in 1972.

-The Steelers will have the No. 17 overall pick in the draft.

-"It's between the whistles, you've got to keep your head on a swivel." - Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor on his late hit which concussed Kelvin Beachum.

-Josh Brown kicked three field goals for the Bengals who beat the Ravens, 23-17.

-Peyton Manning had 304 yards passing and three touchdowns for the Bronco who pounded the Chiefs, 38-3.

-Andrew Luck (right) had 191 yards passing and two touchdown for the Colts who beat the Texans, 28-16.

-Tom Brady had 284 yards passing and two touchdowns to lead the Patriots past the Dolphins, 28-0.

-Philip Rivers passed for 151 yards and two touchdowns for the Chargers in a 24-21 defeat of the rival Raiders.

-Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 225 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bills past the Jets, 28-9.

-Former West Virginia wide receiver Darius Reynaud returned two punts for touchdowns for the Titans in a 38-20 win against the Jaguars.

-Adrian Peterson rushed for 199 yards and two touchdown to lead the Vikings past the rival Packers, 37-34.

-Peterson finished with 2,097 rushing yards on the season, nine short of the NFL's single season record.

-Alfred Morris (right) rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns for the Redskins in a 28-18 win against the rival Cowboys.

-Michael Crabtree had eight receptions for 172 yards and two touchdowns for the 49ers who beat the Cardinals, 27-13.

-Russell Wilson had 250 yards passing and had two touchdowns - one passing, one rushing - for the Seahawks in a 20-13 win against the Rams.

-Jay Cutler passed for 257 yards and a touchdown to lead the Bears to a 26-24 defeat of the Lions.

-Eli Manning had 208 yards passing and five touchdowns for the Giants who routed the rival Eagles, 42-7.

-Doug Martin had 142 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Buccaneers in a 22-17 win against the Falcons.

-DeAngelo Williams rushed for 210 yards and two touchdowns for the Panthers who beat the Saints, 44-38.

-The playoff schedule.

-The Jaguars fired general manager Gene Smith.

Penguins/NHL

-The NHL and NHLPA are scheduled to resume negotiations today.

-Evgeni Malkin had a goal and four assists for Metallurg Magnitogorsk in a 7-0 shutout of Amur Khabarovsk in Russia's KHL.

-Tanner Glass had no points and 39 minutes in penalties for Banska Bystrica in a 4-2 loss to Zvolen in the Slovak Extraliga.

-Penguins defensive prospect Scott Harrington had no points and was even for Canada in a 2-1 win against the United States at the World Junior championships. Four Pittsburgh-area natives played for the United States. Ducks goaltending prospect John Gibson (Whitehall) made 30 saves. Rangers forward prospect J.T. Miller (East Palestine, Ohio) had three shots and was minus-2. Capitals forward prospect Riley Barber (Washington, Pa.) had three shots and was minus-2. Panthers forward prospect Vince Trocheck (Upper St. Clair) had two shots and was even.

-Penguins defensive prospect Olli Maatta did not play for Finland today in a 5-4 shootout win against Switzerland due to an illness.

-Penguins forward prospect Teddy Blueger had one shot, two penalty minutes and was minus-1 for Latvia which lost to the Czech Republic, 4-2.

College Basketball

-Pitt opens its final Big East season against Cincinnati today.

-Gary Browne and Juwan Staten (right) each had 17 points for West Virginia in a 74-67 win against Eastern Kentucky.

College Football

-West Virginia's offense will have a different look next season.

Pirates/MLB

-The Brewers signed former Pirates closer Mike Gonzalez.
