-Ben Roethlisberger referred to the Steelers as "the world's team."
-The Steelers signed cornerback Isaiah Green and re-signed wide receivers David Gilreath and Derek Moye to their practice squad.
-The Cowboys placed defensive lineman Josh Brent on the reserve/non-football illness list in the aftermath of his arrest over charges of intoxication manslaughter. Brent was involved in a crash which killed teammate Jerry Brown.
-The Patriots re-signed wide receiver Deion Branch.
-Ravens linebacker Jameel McClain is dealing with a neck injury.
-Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw is dealing with a knee injury.
-The Cardinals placed quarterback Kevin Kolb (ribs) on injured reserve.
-West Virginia promoted Keith Patterson to defensive coordinator.
-Former Penn State/Steelers running back Franco Harris attempted to film a meeting with NCAA president Mark Emmert in Los Angeles over sanctions against Penn State. It did not go well.
-Texas Tech hired former quarterback Kliff Kingsbury as its next head coach.
Penguins/NHL-Despite meeting with a federal mediator, the NHL and NHLPA got no closer to a new collective bargaining agreement.
-James Neal (right) is scheduled to participate in a charity game in Toronto, Dec. 19.
-Brian Dumoulin and Riley Holzapfel each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 6-3 loss to the Albany Devils. Beau Bennett recorded two assists for the Penguins while teammate Brad Thiessen made 4 saves.
-Luke Pither scored two goals for the Wheeling Nailers who lost to the Toledo Walleye, 5-2. Scott Darling made 21 saves for Wheeling.
-Defensive prospect Derrick Pouliot was cut from Team Canada's roster for the World Junior Championships.
