-Rashard Mendenhall will have a downgraded role against the Ravens Sunday. What about Mike Wallace (right)?

-Could Ben Roethlisberger return this week?

-Chargers safety Atari Bigby will miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury.

-The Bears signed former Cowboys Pro Bowl offensive lineman Andre Gurode.

-The 49ers signed former Penn State linebacker NaVorro Bowman to a five-year contract extension.

-49ers running back Kendall Hunter will miss the rest of the season due to an ankle injury.

-The Buccaneers placed tackle Jeremy Trueblood (shoulder) and safety Cody Grimm (hamstring) on injured reserve.

-The Eagles released Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Babin.

-Eages wide receiver DeSean jackson will miss the rest of the season due to broken ribs.

-THe Panthers placed defensive tacke Ron Edwards (elbow) on injured reserve.

College Basketball

-Lamar Patterson (right, with Howard's Theodore Boyomo) had 15 points for Pitt in a 70-46 win against Howard.

-No. 1 Indiana got 20 points from Cody Zeller in a 83-59 rout of No. 14 North Carolina.

-Nik Stauskas scored 20 points for No. 3 Michigan which defeated No. 18 North Carolina State, 79-72.

-Spencer Dinwiddie scored 24 points for No. 19 Colorado which edged Texas Southern, 85-80, in double overtime.

-No. 21 Minnesota got 16 points from Joe Coleman in a 77-68 win against Florida State.

College Football

-Pitt has plenty of bowl options.

-Penn State's Bill O'Brien was named the Big Ten's coach of the year.

-"There is a big difference in 7-5 and 6-6 in our minds." - West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen on facing Kansas.

-The ACC will add Louisville to replace Maryland.

-Tulane and East Carolina will join the Big East.

-Kentucky hired Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops as its next head coach.

Penguins/NHL

-"I don't know that it's going to make much of a difference." - Craig Adams on mediators taking part in negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA.

-"I'm not very good at not working. The summertime is too long. You want to get back then. Without work, you get antsy." - Dan Bylsma (right) on the lockout.

-James Neal is scheduled to participate in a charity game in Windsor, Ont. Dec. 8.

-“I don’t think I’d make one (personnel decision) without asking him. Since he has come on, every personnel decision I’ve had his opinion on it; I’ve wanted his opinion on it.” - Ray Shero on assistant Tom Fitzgerald.

-Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins goaltender Jeff Zatkoff has rebounded in November after a rotten October.

-Dustin Jeffrey was held without a point for Medvescak Zagreb in a 2-1 loss to EHC Liwest Linz in Austria's EBEL.

-Blue Jackets defensive prospect Ryan Murray, the No. 2 overall pick in this year's draft, will miss the rest of the season due to shoulder surgery.

-Due to the lockout, the Wild will reduce the work week of it's 200-person staff to four days a week.

-The city council of Glendale, Ariz. approved a 20-year $320 million stadium management deal with potential Coyotes owner Greg Jamison. Jamison has 30 to 60 days to finalize the purchase of the franchise from the NHL.

Pirates/MLB

-Taking a look at Garrett Jones' (right) numbers heading into arbitration.

-Phillies all-star catcher Carlos Ruiz was suspended 25 games for a positive test for amphetamine.

-Former Major League Baseball Players Association executive director Marvin Miller passed away. He was 95.
