Steelers/NFL

-Could the Steelers use two running backs in the same backfield?

-Ike Taylor (right) was named AFC defensive player of the week.

-What are the Steelers' playoff odds?

But without him saying it, you can see it … anytime you’ve got a guy on your team who used to play for another team, there’s always a little incentive that you want to win for that guy." - Ben Roethlisberger on Todd Haley facing his former team, the Chiefs.

-The Steelers signed former Penn State/Rochester wide receiver Derek Moye to the practice squad and released tight end Jamie McCoy.

-Texans nose tackle Shaun Cody is dealing with rib and lung injuries.

-The Titans are expected to start Jake Locker at quarterback this week against the Dolphins. A shoulder injury has sidelined him for six weeks.

-Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was fined $15,750 for a horse collar tackle against Bears defensive back Kelvin Hayden.

-The Dolphins placed cornerback Richard Marshall (back) on injured reserve and claimed defensive back Brandon McDonald off waivers from the Buccaneers.

-In support of their head coach Chuck Pagano's battle with leukemia, several of the Colts' players shaved their heads.

-The Falcons released former Pitt/Woodland Hills fullback Lousaka Polite (right).

-Bears cornerback Charles Tillman could miss Sunday's game against the Texans due to the birth of his fourth child.

-The Packers placed linebacker Nick Perry (wrist) on injured reserve and activated former Penn State tight end Andrew Quarless (knee) from the physically unable to preform list.

-The Eagles placed offensive lineman Todd Herremans (foot) on injured reserve.

-The Cardinals placed linebacker O'Brien Schofield (ankle) on injured reserve.

College Football

-Pitt is still thinking about heading to a bowl game.

-Penn State linebackers linebackers Michael Mauti and Gerald Hodges are competing with each other.

-Penn State defensive lineman Jordan Hill (knee) and tight end Kyle Carter (ankle) are each day to day.

-Hall-of-Fame Texas coach Darrell Royal (right) passed away. He was 88.

Penguins/NHL

-Another day. Another healthy round of negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA in New York.

-Both sides are scheduled to meet again today.

-Craig Adams and Sidney Crosby each skipped out of New York on account of the nor' easter which struck the area.

Shootout goals by Paul Thompson, Trevor Smith and Tom Kuhnhackl gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 1-0 win against the Binghamton Senators. Jeff Zatkoff made 32 saves in the shutout.

-Zatkoff's hot streak of play continues.

-The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins signed Wheeling Nailers forward Bobby Farnham to a professional tryout contract. In nine games with Wheeling this season, he recorded one assist.

-Philippe Lefebvre scored two goals for the Wheeling Nailers who fell to the Reading Royals, 4-3, in overtime. Carl Sneep and Stefan Chaput each recorded two assists for the Nailers while teammate Patrick Killeen made 26 saves.

-Canadiens forward Scott Gomez has joined the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. Gomez, a native of Alaska, played for the Aces during the 2004-05 lockout.

-Sabres forward Cody Hodgson, currently assigned to the club's AHL affiliate in Rochester, will be sidelined "a couple of weeks" on account of a broken right hand.

Pirates/MLB

-Andrew McCutchen (right) was named a finalist for National League MVP.

-The Mets terminated the contract of former Pirates outfielder Jason Bay.

-The Rockies hired former shortstop Walt Weiss as manager.

-The Dodgers hired former all-star first baseman Mark McGwire as hitting coach.
