-The Tigers re-signed former Pirates manager Jim Leyland to a one-year contract extension.

-The Mets picked up options for third baseman David Wright and pitcher R.A. Dickey.

-The Braves picked up options for former Pirates pitcher Paul Maholm, pitcher Tim Hudson and catcher Brian McCann.

-The White Sox re-signed pitcher Jake Peavy to a two-year contract worth $29 million.

-The Tigers picked up options for former Pirates pitcher Octavio Dotel and shortsthop Jhonny Peralta.

-The Yankees picked up options on second baseman Robinson Cano and outfielder Curtis Granderson.

Steelers/NFL

-Things get tougher this weekend for the Steelers against the Giants.

-Ryan Clark (concussion) and LaMarr Woodley (hamstring) are questionable.
