-Highlights:

-Pirates hitting coach Gregg Ritchie is expected to leave the club and take a job with George Washington University.

-San Francisco's Buster Posey claims the National League batting title over Andrew McCutchen.

-Detroit's Andrew McCutchen becomes the first triple crown winner since Boston's Carl Yastrzemski in 1967.

-The Yankees win yet another American League East crown.

-The Orioles settle for a wild card berth.

-The Athletics claim the American League West title.

Steelers/NFL

-Remember when the Steelers had a run defense?

-Injured Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, running back LeSean McCoy and cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha each returned to practice.

-Jets wide receiver and former Steeler Santonio Holmes will miss the rest of the season due to a foot injury.

-Bills defensive lineman Kyle Williams was fined $15,000 for a hit against Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

-Browns wide receiver/kick returner Joshua Cribbs returns from a concussion.

-Chiefs tight end Kevin Boss will miss the rest of the season due to a concussion.

Penguins/NHL

-A Penguins fan vented his frustrations at yesterday's season finale for the Pirates above.

-Tanner Glass returned to Vancouver to take part in some informal workouts with some of his former Canucks teammates.

-Goals by Adam Payerl, Paul Thompson, Jayson Megna and Brian Gibbons led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 4-3 preseason win against the Rochester Americans.

-The Canadiens assigned forwards Stefan Chaput, Olivier Fortier, Ian Schultz and defenceman Joe Stejsk to the Wheeling Nailers.

-NHL chief operating officer John Collins had a meeting with several of the league's top sponsors about the lockout.

-Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov has joined Vityaz Chekhov of Russia's KHL for the duration of the lockout.
