-The Steelers prepare for Michael Vick (right).

-Mike Tomlin wanted to sign Vick?

-Troy Polamalu, James Harrison and Rashard Mendenhall are expected to return to the lineup Sunday.

-Jets wide receiver and former Steeler Santonio Holmes is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a foot injury.

-Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey resumed practicing for the first time since being injued against the Steelers a week and a half ago.

-The Dolphins signed former Redskins wide receiver Jabar Gaffney.

-The Buccaneers signed former Pitt tight end Nate Byham.

Pirates/MLB

-The Pirates remain undefeated in October with a 5-1 win against the Braves.

-Highlights:

-Braves pitcher and former Pirate Paul Maholm will be introduced to the playoffs.

-The Cardinals clinched a playoff berth.

-The Dodgers were eliminated from playoff contention.

-Mets pitcher R.A. Dickey will need abdominal surgery.

Penguins/NHL

-ESPN has reached an agreement to broadcast KHL games on ESPN3.

-Keven Veilleux and Philippe Dupuis scored goals in a 1-1 tie during the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins intrasquad scrimmage.

-Individual tickets for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins go on sale Friday, 10 a.m.

-Negotiations between the NHL and NHLPA broke off yesterday.

-The NHL claims it has lost $100 million by canceling the preseason.

-How screwed up is this lockout? They're arguing over hotel rooms.

-While he still recovers from a concussion suffered during the postseason, Blackhawks forward and former Penguin Marian Hossa is still permitted to work out at the team's facilities.

-Avalanche captain/forward Gabriel Landeskog has joined Djurgården of Sweden's Allsvenskan for the duration of the lockout.

-Colorado forward Matt Duchene has joined the Frolunda Indians of Sweden's Elitserien for the duration of the lockout.

-Oilers defenseman and former Penguin Corey Potter has joined the Vienna Capitals of Austria's EBEL for the duration of the lockout.
