Post-Gazette sports reporter Paul Zeise blogs about the world of sports, and Pittsburgh sports in particular, with an assist from Seth Rorabaugh and his Morning Links. Follow Paul on Twitter @PaulZeise and Seth @emptynetters.
Welcome.
Come in, take a seat and listen up.
My name is Paul Zeise. Some of you know me already, or at least know about me, some of you will get to know me, and those of you who don't, well, I suppose that's your choice, too...
At any rate, welcome to my new blog here at PG Plus. It is a new venture I am very excited about because it is, well, all mine and it is up to me to make it something worthwhile for you, the reader.
But this blog won't work unless it involves you, the reader, as it has to be interactive in order to work well.
I'll fill the posts with stuff I may find interesting, with my thoughts on the world of sports, my analysis of events that happen and I'll also try to be a guide to what is going on in Pittsburgh sports, the national sports scene and even the international sport scene when I feel the time is right. Some days I may do some video stuff or post some videos or maybe some other links to things I've found on the internet that are interesting.
But again, I welcome a good discussion. I want to hear from you. Together I feel like we can make this blog a lot of fun, extremely entertaining, informative and sometimes just downright whacky. And with input from you, the reader, we can make it a great place to hang out and talk sports - along with entertainment, TV, politics, music and anything else that comes along we find interesting (OK, mostly sports...).
I'll wrap up weekends with posts about what just happened, I'll preview weekends with posts about what will happen and along the way I'll try to make this a place that you, the reader, visit early and often every single day.
My background is pretty simple - I graduated from Point Park College (sorry, my degree reads "College"), got my masters in journalism from Temple and got my first job at the Vineland Daily Journal in Vineland, New Jersey.
I joined the Post-Gazette in 1999 and while I am most well known for my work as the Pitt football beat reporter, I have also covered some Steelers, Pirates, Pitt hoops, West Virginia football, a Super Bowl, a Final Four and countless golf tournaments and many other events --too many to count. I have also had the pleasure to do a lot of other media - talking sports on KDKA-TV, on ESPN Radio, on 93.7 The Fan, and so I have a very diverse background and have been around a long time.
That may be another way of saying I am on the cusp of being an old fogey, but I'm fighting that as long as I can so I hope to bring a lot of energy and creativity to this thing, though that is sometimes easier said than done.
All I really ask is this - bear with me for a week or two until we really get rolling and find a good rhythm and I promise you won't be disappointed for this is a great time of year -- the Pirates are in a playoff chase and the Steelers, Pitt, WVU, Penn State and high school football just about to get started.
As always my door will be open, so to speak, and you can reach me at

So check back in because starting today I will begin to update this blog daily, particularly during the week and when there are games or events to be commented on or when I am awake at 3:30 AM and watching "Carlito's Way" --- or some other Classic Movie that I know every line to yet have to watch every time it is on the air -- and that happens far more often than you think.
Thanks for listening,
Paul Zeise
