-The Islanders signed defenseman Griffin Reinhart, a first-round pick in this summer's draft (No. 4 overall), to a three-year entry-level contract.
-The Islanders removed goaltender Rick DiPietro from injured reserve.
-Note: In the event of a lockout by NHL owners, the Islanders would have had to pay DiPietro were he still on injured reserve.
-Kings captain Dustin Brown (right) will be an honorary starter for the NASCAR Spring Cup Finger Lakes 355 at Watkins Glen International (N.Y.), Aug. 12.
