Penguins/NHL

-Sidney Crosby won't be clipping coupons for the next 12 years at least.

-The timing of Crosby's contract announcement was hardly an accident.

-The NHL has established the temporary salary cap ceiling as $70.2 million and the salary cap floor as $54.2 million.

-The Bruins agreed with restricted free agent goaltender Tuukka Rask on a one-year contract worth $3.5 million.

-The Panthers placed former Penguins forward Matt Bradley and forward Mike Santorelli on waivers.

-The Predators re-signed former Penguins defenseman Hal Gill to a two-year contract worth a total of $4 million.

-The Canucks agreed to terms with restricted free agent goaltender Cory Schneider to a three-year contract worth a total of $12 million.

-The Kings signed goaltender Jonathan Quick to a 10-year contract extension worth $58 million.

-Devils forward Patrik Elias found the missing puck from the final moments of Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final in his equipment bag and will send it to the Kings.

-The Stars bought out the final year of former Penguins enforcer Eric Godard's contract.

Pirates/MLB

-The Pirates edge the Phillies, 5-4.

-Highlights:

-Clint Hurdle is losing patience with Jose Tabata.

-The minor league report.

Steelers/NFL

-The Steelers signed linebacker Ryan Baker and cut former Aliquippa/Pitt linebacker Brandon Lindsey.

-Five of the Steelers' games had their times rescheduled.

Etc.

-Ohio quarterback Tra'von Chapman commits to Pitt.

-Kentucky's Anthony Davis is selected by the Hornets with the top pick of the NBA draft.
