-The Penguins and UPMC will open a new practice facility in Cranberry. They hope to open it in 2014.

During last week's draft the Penguins traded Staal to the Hurricanes in part for a first-round pick used to draft Pouliot.
-Negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and NHLPA will begin Friday in New York.

-The Capitals hired former captain Adam Oates as head coach. Oates spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach with the Devils.
-The Oilers promoted associate coach Ralph Krueger to head coach. Krueger spent the past two seasons working under his predecessor, Tom Renney.
-"If you are looking for a player to play last minute defending a lead, a lot of situations that our team gets in, he plays a lot of those situations so just a great fit on our team and we are certainly happy to have him back." - Coyotes coach Dave Tippett on re-acquring former Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek.
-Long-time Coyotes captain Shane Doan will test free agency July 1.
-Former Canucks/Panthers/Rangers forward Pavel Bure, Red Wings/Blues/Bruins/Capitals/Flyers/Mighty Ducks/Oilers forward Adam Oates, Nordiques/Avalanche forward Joe Sakic and former Nordiques/Maple Leafs/Canucks forward Mats Sundin were elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
-St. Vincent College is ready for Steelers training camp.
-Lions cornerback and Pitt product Aaron Berry was arrested on DUI charges.
-Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was the target of an extortion scheme.
-Patriots tight end and Woodland Hills product Rob Gronkowski as well as Blue Jays third baseman and former Pirate Jose Bautista will appear in ESPN the Magazine's "Body Issue."
