-Even if David DeCastro and Mike Adams aren't at practice, the Steelers are getting them up to speed.
-It turns out Raiders guard and Penn State/Central Catholic product Stefan Wisniewski played last season with a torn labrum.
-“Let’s be honest, I’ll probably never be back there again. I got pictures. I didn’t know I was going to get my name on the Cup. I thought you had to play 60 games or the finals. But it’s neither. If the team wants you on there, you’re on there. So Mario Lemieux and Ray Shero made an exception for me.” - Former Penguins forward Mike Zigomanis on being a part of the Penguins' Stanley Cup championship in 2009.
-Martin Brodeur made 22 saves for the Devils who defeated the Kings, 3-1, in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. Bryce Salvador recorded two assists for New Jersey which held off elimination. Los Angeles has a 3-1 series lead.
-“Jaromir hasn’t forgotten how he got criticized by the media in Pittsburgh early in his career. He feels he needs to prove himself every day, but I agree with you, he needs to cut back in his training.” - Petr Svoboda, agent for Flyers forward and former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr. Svoda said he is working with Flyers management towards a contract extension for Jagr who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.
-A day after former Penguins coach Michel Therrien was hired as head coach, the Canadiens fired assistant coaches Randy Cunneyworth (right) and Randy Ladouceur. Cunneyworth, a former Penguins forward, served as interim head coach most of this past season.
-The Panthers signed general manager and former Penguins defenseman Dale Tallon to a contract extension believed to be three years in length.
-The Capitals will not re-sign forward and Penguins killer Mike Knuble.
