-The Penguins signed defenseman Reid McNeill, a sixth-round pick in 2010, to a three-year entry-level contract. McNeill, 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, appeared in 51 games last season with the OHL's Barrie Colts and scored 12 points (three goals, nine assists).

-Catching up with former Penguins forward Jiri Hrdina.

-"There's nothing anybody can do about it." - Former Penguins coach Scotty Bowman on teams collapsing around the net and blocking shots on an increase scale.

-Jonathan Quick made 24 saves and led the Kings to a 4-0 shutout of the Coyotes in Game 2. Jeff Carter recorded a hat trick for Los Angeles while teammate Anze Kopitar recorded two assists. Los Angeles has a 2-0 series lead.

Steelers/NFL

-Bill Cowher launches an education campaign to combat melanoma, the disease which took the life of his wife, Kaye, in 2010.

-Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker signed his franchise tender of a one-year contract worth $9.515 million.

-The Raiders signed former West Virginia fullback Owen Schmitt.
