PITTSBURGH - The Pirates swept Montreal in a DH Sunday and swept their second home series. The Pirates have now won 7 games in a row. The scores were 1-0 (Game 1) and 5-3 (Game 2).

Dave Cash scored the only run of Game 1 when he drove in Jackie Hernandez from 2B. Hernandez was picked off 2nd base but reached 3rd base on a throwing error by Expo starter Ernie McAnally.
Roberto Clemente was 0-3 in Game 1 and did not play in Game 2. He still needs 83 hits to reach 3,000. Clemente is hitting .313.

The Expos snapped the Pirates' 36 scoreless streak in Game 2 when Ron Hart doubled off starter Bob Johnson in the 1st inning and scored on Ron Fairly's single. In the 5th, down 2-1 Al Oliver's 3rd HR of the year put the Bucs ahead.

The Pirates broke a 3-3 tie in the 8th when Bill Mazeroski drove in his 1st run of the year on a sac fly. Dave Guisti reached 1B on SS Hector Torres' error, scoring Gene Clines. Torres was in the game because Expos SS Tim Foli was ejected for arguing balls and strikes.

Luke Walker (2-1) and Guisti (1-3) got the wins.

The Pirates are off Monday and will travel to St.Louis for 3 games. The Bucs are now in 2nd place, 18-12, 6 games behind New York.

In memory of Mr. Les Banos.
