Pitt-Georgetown game prediction
Season record:1-1
First one to 50 wins.
OK, so it might not be that bad when the Panthers visit the Hoyas for a 9 p.m. tip tonight at the Verizon Center, but it’s clear both teams have their issues on offense.
Pitt has scored 61 and 62 points in its first two Big East losses to Rutgers. In the only other game against a major-conference foe the Panthers scored 62 against Michigan, also a loss.
Georgetown, meanwhile, has endured its share of struggles scoring, too. The Hoyas lost their Big East opener at Marquette, 49-48. They also scored 46 points against Towson and 37 against Tennessee, and won both times.
Georgetown ranks among the league’s top defensive outfits. The Hoyas are second behind Pitt in scoring defense, third in field-goal percentage defense and fourth in steals.
Pitt ranks right up there, too, although Rutgers and Cincinnati both exposed Pitt’s weak perimeter defense.
So I’ll amend my original thought. First one to 60 wins.
Georgetown 60, Pitt 53.
