Fifteen NBA scouts have already called Pitt and asked for seats for Pitt’s back-to-back home games in the N.I.T. preseason tip-off on Nov. 12 and 13.
Considering that many scouts don’t call until the last minute, you expect that number to grow in the coming days and weeks.
Adams continues to be rated as a lottery or near lottery pick for the 2013 NBA draft. In the latest mock draft done by Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Adams is the No. 14 prospect. Here is what Mannix wrote about Adams:
Adams, from New Zealand, is a gifted athlete with big, suction-cup hands and a willingness to mix it up for rebounds. The 7-footer is a solid shot blocker and uses his size well to control the paint. Team execs have one question: Given that he's only played against mostly lower-level competition, will Adams be the same player in the Big East? If he is, expect Adams to skyrocket up draft boards.
Scouts will be killing two birds with one stone by attending the N.I.T. games at the Petersen Events Center. C.J. McCollum of Lehigh will be playing two games on the same dates. McCollum is the No. 18 prospect in Mannix’s latest mock draft.
McCollum came back for his senior season after le led Lehigh past Duke in the NCAA tournament last season.
Pitt plays Fordham and Lehigh plays Robert Morris on the 12th. The winners advance to play each other on the 13th. The losers also play on the 13th.
