Syracuse and the Big East announced today the terms of an agreement between the two parties concerning Syracuse's exit from the conference. Syracuse will pay the Big East $7.5 million and will be able to leave July 1, 2013.

The Big East said it had been willing to negotiate with Syracuse and Pitt about leaving early in the spring. Pitt filed a lawsuit in May to help speed up that process.

Pitt did not want to comment on Syracuse's agreement with the Big East today, but it is reasonable to draw the conclusion that Syracuse has now set the bar for Pitt. Does Pitt want to continue with the lawsuit? Or will it pay the extra $2.5 million and rest easy at night knowing their departure to the ACC next summer is assured?
