Guys and gals, because of my travel itinerary tomorrow and the anticipated adventures of flying into O'Hare in the first week of January, I am going to push the chat back to 2 p.m. That should give me plenty of time to get to my hotel, I think.
As I wrote yesterday, if you want the chats as part of this forum going forward please make it a point to participate. We're not going to schedule ones in the future unless we have participation from the readers of this blog.
*Forgot to mention this yesterday, but I asked Jamie Dixon about using Malcolm Gilbert more. Dixon said it's not injury-related. He said Gilbert just has to continue to improve in order to get playing time. He said Pitt's issues do not lie in post defense or rebounding, and that's about the only place Gilbert can help.
As much of a defensive presence Gilbert is, he is not a polished offenisve player. I think Dixon realizes he needs to have the threat of a scorer at center in the game. And even though Dante Taylor has not been much of a threat in recent games he remains this team's best option.
*A preview of tomorrow's story: Nasir Robinson calls the DePaul game a "must-win." It's the first week of January, but anyone who bothered to glance at the schedule understands what he feels that way.
After DePaul and Rutgers, Pitt plays at No. 20 Marquette and at No. 1 Syracuse before coming home to play host to No. 10 Louisville. The Panthers had better be 2-2 heading into that stretch, or the season will be on the brink.
Taht's all for now. I'm traveling tomorrow and will do that chat at 2 p.m.

Dixon makes a fair point regarding what Gilbert brings versus what our weaknesses are, but what about the ability to block/bother shots at the rim in help defense? I feel Taylor has not done too good a job in this department and Gilbert has a lot of potential as a rim protector. Plus, he already may be a better finisher than Taylor on offensive rebounds (though that isn't saying much).
