It's always been discussed but never 100 percent confirmed that Dave Joyner's tenure as athletic director would last as long as Rodney Erickson's presidency. Joyner has said as much himself.
But on Monday, Penn State announced that Joyner would for sure be athletic director until June 2014, when Erickson retires. This means "acting" has been removed from Joyner's athletic director title. In June of 2014, Penn State said it would conduct a national search for a new athletic director.
This news might bother some Penn State fans. Joyner has never been a likable athletic director, partially because he was on the Board of Trustees when it fired Joe Paterno in November 2011. Joyner, along with Erickson, was booed at halftime of Penn State-Ohio State game last fall.
