Penn State’s running back situation continues to get more complicated. On Tuesday, coach Bill O’Brien said running backs Bill Belton and Derek Day were day-to-day with injuries.
Day started in Belton’s absence against Virginia but left in the second half with a shoulder injury. Belton has been nursing an ankle injury and did not practice or play last week.
O’Brien said that if Day and Belton were out of Saturday’s game, Curtis Dukes would start. Dukes ran 10 times on Saturday for 31 yards. O’Brien said Zach Zwinak would also play and that fullback Mike Zordich could receive some carries.
“Curtis Dukes went in there and ran tough,” O’Brien said. “Zwinak did some good things. So that's a pretty solid position, and we just gotta keep grinding away with those guys.”
