Around downtown, you can still see the after-effects of this morning's Rise and Rally. There is more white and navy than normal, more Penn State shirts and jerseys.

This morning, hundreds of Penn State fans crowded around the Penn State practice facilities, voicing their support for the football team, which had a morning workout that began around 7 a.m.

The event, put on by The Goon Show, was emblematic of the way the town has embraced the team since the sanctions were handed down. Indeed, the majority of stores downtown feature signs expressing support for the football team.

This outpouring of goodwill has impressed the players. Here's a sampling of what a few of them said about the Rise and Rally on Twitter:

Alex Butterworth: "Couldn't have better fans loved seeing each and every one of them "

Nate Cadogan: "So much love this morning!! If you there is this much support now, can't wait for Sept 1! is behind us 100%...

Garry Gilliam: "This was amazing! Love our fans "
