Derrick Thomas has left Penn State for personal reasons, the athletics department announced on Friday. Thomas, a junior cornerback, recorded statistics in only three games last year, finishing with three tackles. He was charged with disorderly conduct last summer, along with Curtis Drake, who was dismissed earlier this month.
Though Thomas is inexperienced, he would've been a help for Penn State this fall, considering the Nittany Lions' depleted secondary. Now, that secondary is even more depleted.
Thomas is the third player no longer with Penn State that has been announced this summer. Drake and Davon Smith were kicked off earlier this month.
