Report: WR Devon Smith dismissed from team

Lions 24-7 is reporting that Penn State wide receiver Devon Smith has been kicked off the team, citing multiple anonymous sources.

Smith was charged in April with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His arraignment is scheduled for June 27.

As recently as three weeks ago, at the Coaches vs. Cancer golf tournament, coach Bill O'Brien said Smith was still on the team and any punishment with him would be handled between he and the player. Earlier this spring, he called Smith one of his team's true playmakers.

Last season Smith had 25 receptions for 402 yards.
