UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
No. 24 Penn State is headed to the Lone Star State for the holidays.
The Nittany Lions (9-3) will face No. 20 Houston (12-1) Jan. 2 in the TicketCity Bowl in Dallas. The game kicks off at noon and will be played at historic Cotton Bowl Stadium.
The TicketCity Bowl had the seventh selection out of bowls with Big Ten tie-ins, following the BCS games.
Penn State won four of its past six bowl games under coach Joe Paterno, who was fired Nov. 9 because of the child sexual abuse scandal involving former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
Interim coach Tom Bradley is 1-2 since replacing Paterno.
