JamesinNYC: Hey thanks for the chat. Any chance the punishment against PSU could be reduced when all the facts come out?
Mark Dent: Thanks. No way. The NCAA has never done anything like that and says it won't in this case. Let's say Curley and Schultz both get acquitted. I still say no because the NCAA does not listen to reason. Plus the consent decree removes all chances of appeal unless it is somehow declared void.
JamesinNYC: OK I am a PSU grad and I just cannot imagine any person could look the other way on child abuse. It seems to me that the NCAA just wanted to punish someone for what happened, besides Sandusky who deserves anything they come up with. So why the bold statement on Ohio winning?
Mark Dent: I agree that the NCAA was just wanting to make a PR move, regardless of if there was a cover up or not. I like Ohio because it is a more experienced team that can run and pass the ball. I can see it giving the PSU D enough trouble, and I'm not sold on the PSu offense. But Ohio had not beat a BCS school under Solich.
