tyrone: Gerry, you'll get to visit England next year! I know that you are an American now, but, as we all know, you were born and raised in Merry Olde England. Are you excited about visiting home? Do you get back often? Is most of your family still there? I know, so many questions, but I just love all things England.
Gerry Dulac: Once again, you are misinformed.
dr p: How is Cincinatti's pass rush? I thought it was good early on this year, but haven't noticed one way or the other lately.
Gerry Dulac: It is very good, especially from their front line, and especially from Geno Atkins, who might be the best defensive tackle in the league. He has six of their sacks and will be a problem, especially if Maurkice Pouncey doesn't play, which I don't expect.
roberto: Gerry, you really went out of your way to insult Obama last week. How did you like them apples he served up last night? Betcha you won't insult him now. Huh?
Gerry Dulac: I didn't insult him, merely observed that Mike Tomlin treats the media with the same dispassion Obama had in first debate.
Don't you guys pay attention????
math: Who will be out injured this weekend? Too many to count.
Gerry Dulac: Too many to list. 43, 77, 53, 54, maybe 34.
James_Pittsburgh: I know it may be a stretch considering the Steelers play against the Titans, but in the mediocre AFC I see the Steelers as a one and done playoff team. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac: Youre are supposing, of course, that they make the playoffs. If you were around in 1995, I bet you thought they wouldn't even make the playiffs when they were 3-4 after being blown out by the Bengals. They went to the Super Bowl that season.
If you were around in 2005, I bet you thought they weren't a playoff team when they were 7-5. They won the Super Bowl that year.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but I'm not agreeing, either. Let's wait and see. But, it's a good thing the postseason doesn't start next week.
?: In your opinion, why did the Steelers stick with Ta'amu? I figured that with his lack of contribution (he doesn't dress), his relatively not high draft slot, and the fact that he will SURELY get charged with some felonies or at least get some sort of punishment, that they would have just taken their lumps and let the big man go. Why, Gerry?
Gerry Dulac: Who says they won't let him go after his Oct. 23 hearing? Or, after his two-game suspension? That is still a possibility. We shall see if they stick with him.
Guest: Does Will Allen start again. No Mundy please.
Gerry Dulac: Yes, Will Allen will start again. I thought he did rather well aainst the Titans, considering he hasn't played in that situation in a while.
tennbob: Why no playing time for Curtis Brown?
Gerry Dulac: He hasn't merited any playing time, other than special teams. I think the Steelers were really hoping to see something from him at training camp and it didn't happen.
tennbob: Is Cincinati's recent losses a reflection of the injuries to their O=line to start the season?
Gerry Dulac: No, I think they suffer from the same disease that afflicted the Steelers -- they lost games to teams they should beat. But they have had problems running the ball (same disease as the Steelers), which allows teams to disrespect their run and concentrate on taking away A.J. Green.
Guest: how does Ike Taylor guard AJ Green? bump him at the line? play off him so as not to give up the big play? what strategies have others employed successfully against the WR from Georgia?
Gerry Dulac: Cover two. Tampa two. Cover three. Ike can't cover Green by himself, especially deep. He will need help. If the Steelers employ that tactic, it will be Demaryius Thomas all over again.
James_Pittsburgh: Is Roger Goddell considering moving one of the NFL's less successful franchises to London?
Gerry Dulac: Like....????
cincy: You like visiting Cincinnati? You know it is near where Ben went to school - Miami.
Gerry Dulac: Well, yes, I knew that. And I do like Cincinnati. Very much.
science: So, we signed Bryant to replace Ta'amu, right? Had he been on the street since camp? I liked him.
Gerry Dulac: I agree. And the coaches liked what they saw of him last year when he was on the practice squad. But, yes, he was not on anyone's roster.
JAMESH: If Pouncey doesn't dress, who is the backup to Legursky at C?
Gerry Dulac: Ramon Foster, I believe.
James_Pittsburgh: How important is Mendenhall to winning this week against the Bengals?
Gerry Dulac: Not nearly as important as Pouncey, because of Geno Atkins. Or having LaMarr Woodley back and having him and James Harrison together for more than one quarter. That's all they've played together this year. And they didn't play a whole lot together last year, either. Having those two players healthy will cure a lot of ills.
Scott: Any news on Spence's recovery?
Gerry Dulac: He had a serious injury -- multiple ligament tears in his knee. It's going to take a while and it's too early to make any kind of progonosis either way.
Gerry Dulac: That's going to do it for today's chat. Hope you enjoyed. See you next week. I'm off to visit my family in ......
