Gerry Dulac: Sorry for the late start everyone. My goof. And thanx JH for the reminder. Lets get started....
tito: Why did Gilbert leave the game for a few plays on Sunday?
Gerry Dulac: I'm still not sure but I will find out. Gilbert has been bothered with a groin injury and it's possible it was that. It's also possible that the coaches want to work in Mike Adams to get him some playing time. They do that with players they know will eventually be contributors if not starters.
mr wizard: I heard that Tomlin was really testy with you reporters yesterday. Is that true? If so, why?
Gerry Dulac: He was. He always is. He treats the Tuesday press conference like Obama treated the debate -- with disinterest and disdain.
roger that: Is Van Dyke getting much practice in as a CB or is he only practicing on Special Teams?
Gerry Dulac: He practices at CB on the scout team, but he doesn't get any work in the sub packages, if that's what youre asking. He's mainly a special teams guy. But I like him. I like his skill set and speed. We'll see how he progresses.
Sam Sanders: Now that Mendenhall looks like the best RB in the NFL again, how much are we going to have to pay him in free agency? Probably 7 yrs/90 million I think.
Gerry Dulac: I think you have been spending too much time at Mike Wallace Academy for Finance.
W: Alex Karras is very sick and may not be with us much longer. Some thoughts on him as a player, actor, and human being, please.
Gerry Dulac: Good player, good actor. I don't know him as a person or human being, so it is not appropriate for me to comment on that. But there aren't many movie characters better than Mongo in "Blazing Saddles."
Chanc Arnold: Ed was in a bit of a sour mood yesterday during his chat, what did you do to upset him
Gerry Dulac: I took away his coffee.
JAMESH: And now I feel bad I copied in Jerry Micco. I'm looking at the Ben to Mendenhall pass on SteelersDepot and I believe it was a forward pass based solely on the trajectory of the ball. Have you reviewed the play and do you think it should be scored as a run or a pass?
Gerry Dulac: I haven't reviewed it again, but when I saw it live I thought it was a lateral and immediately said so. And when I saw it again on the TV replay it only convinced me. But it will be reviewed by the appropriate people and, if it were a forward pass, they will change it to a touchdown pass.
Thanx for the heads up. Busy day here in a short week.
Shoes: What was up with Nandhi Asghmnaui throwing Brown's shoe? Shouldn't that be a penalty?
Gerry Dulac: I thought so, too -- unsportsmanlike conduct, right?? But it was not Nnamdi Asomugha, it was S Kurt Coleman.
please: Please, your thoughts on Tennessee and how they match up with Pittsburgh?
Gerry Dulac: Tennessee doesn't match up very well with anyone. The best matchup for the Titans is their wide receivers against the Steelers corners, especially if Kenny Britt is healthy. And their special teams are good.
Ken: The Texans center looked like an all pro last night. Your assessment of Pouncey at this stage?
Gerry Dulac: Yes he did. But there is nothing he did that Pouncey can't do or doesn't do. There is a reason Pouncey is a two-time Pro Bowl center after just two years in the league.
yo: How is Harrison's knee holding up?
Gerry Dulac: Mike Tomlin said there was a little swelling after the game, but best I can tell he came through OK. I'll know a little more later during practice, though it's possible he might not do much today.
turkington: do you like stand-up comedy? any favorites? besides Collier
Gerry Dulac: Collier. Billy Gardell. Greg Warren. Bill Crawford
Atlanta Dan: Gerry - since you correctly predicted in August that if James Harrison's knee swelled up after practicing before the Denver game he could be out a long time, any predictions on how long the recurrence of Troy's calf injury might keep him out?
Gerry Dulac: Whenever a injury re-occurs, especially so quickly, it is never a good thing. And typically the second rest and recovery period is longer than the first. So If Polamalu missed two games and had a bye week the first time, you can safely assume he will likely miss three weeks minimum this time.
Now, that's based on if it was a re-injury, which is what Mike Tomlin said it was. Of course, he called it a "re-aggravation," a word I will send to the Department of Redundancy Department.
hello?: Gerry, why badmouth Obama? Why do you always ALWAYS go out of your way to insult the President?!
Gerry Dulac: I didn't bad mouth him. I said he appeared disinterested in the debate. And I think I was being more critical of the head coach, which I guess you chose to ignore.
reader: Your grades are always interesting. Why isn't the rest of your work more interesting?
Gerry Dulac: Maybe I'm like Ob...excuse me...Tomlin -- I must be disinterested!!!
Gerry Dulac: All right kids, that's all the time we have today. My apologies for the late start, but you guys certainly adjusted and responded with a ton of questions. Kept my interest and proved once again -- never mention politics with sports!! To much thin skin. Bye now.
